Sydney metal group NORTHLANE formed in 2008 and quickly became a standalone act in their local scene. Having all had experience in past bands, the group of 5 youngsters set out to craft their own dynamic take on the hardcore and metal genres, displaying early signs of what was to come on their first EP “Hollow Existence” which was released independently in 2010.
NORTHLANE delivered their debut album “Discoveries” in November of 2011 and signed an international deal with Melbourne based company Unified for Recorded Music, Publishing & Management. KillYourStereo.com called “Discoveries” ‘release of the year’ and the band immediately set out to play over 40 dates in Australia, headlining on the “Discoveries Tour” and playing main support to Parkway Drive on the “Sick Summer Tour”.
In late 2012 NORTHLANE returned to support Parkway Drive on the “Atlas Australian Tour”, which took place in 5000-plus capacity stadiums around Australia. NORTHLANE hit the ground running straight into an 18-date headline tour throughout January visiting regional centers around Australia cultivating their growing rural fan base. In February of 2013, NORTHLANE played a coveted spot on all dates of Soundwave Festival amongst the likes of Blink-182, Metallica and Linkin Park.
On the eve of their Soundwave performances, NORTHLANE unveiled news of a new album titled “Singularity” as part of a viral campaign that received vast international attention. Recorded and produced by Will Putney at The Machine Shop Studios in NJ, USA, “Singularity” was a monstrous leap forward and gave insight into the diversity of the band while capturing their immense musical talent.
“Singularity” was released on March 22nd 2013 and charted at #3 in Australia (ARIA) during opening week. NORTHLANE returned to Canada for a national run of live dates before returning home to Australia in May 2013 to sold out shows on the “Singularity Album Tour”, a tour which cemented them as one of the most promising young live bands in Australia.
