“Rebirth should go down as a haunting masterpiece of Australian heavy music”
ROD WHITFIELD – Independent music writer/BEAT Magazine
HATCHET DAWN emerging from the green mist lurking in the deep southern city known as Ghoulbourne have formed an identity inspired of classic horror and sci-fi realms has resonated to date in two official releases and a growing legacy that is set to stand the test of time evidently displayed in the bands rapid growth and hard work focused towards taking over the planet earth.
Crushing through the gateways of time are characterised band members creating a movement in modern heavy music riddled with classic hooks and song carvings of their own. Haunting vocals unfolded by a thick groove orientated sonic backlit while draped in a tailored alternative appearance HATCHET DAWN draw fans into their disquieting spooky world of “toxic horror rock”. Enhancing depth and demeanour to front a monstrous sound reminiscent of Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Korn, Rob Zombie and the Misfits. “We’re all about giving both visual and sonic experiences. It’s about entertainment. We want people to walk away inspired” explains bassist Billie-Jade.
After exiting the toxic oracle, a new lineup and an influence felt around the world, HATCHET DAWN are generating more interest than ever before with their first full length album REBIRTH shattering 13 twisted tales of cavorting enigmatic toxic horror oracle obscurity. The debut album REBIRTH bounds a signature spooky dark mixture that expels pure haunting graveyard class following up from the 2009 Faith in Chaos EP. REBIRTH broadens the creative world of a band that has attracted the collaborated work from the renowned Grammy Award winning maestro Neil Kernon (Sex Pistols, Queen, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Hall & Oats & Judas Priest) mixing REBIRTH along with the mastering talents of Alan Douches (Sepultura, Misfits, Killswitch Engage, HIM & Mastodon) fortifying a world class heavyweight album from beginning to end.
REBIRTH showcases the bands original modern style of anthems and hooky choruses such as Planet of Terror, Dark Symmetry, Juggernaut and River Snake, while showcasing a darker violin accompanied twisted side within the worlds of songs Mother Destruction and the title track Rebirth. In 13 songs, delivering 41 minutes of hatchet horror hi-fi, REBIRTH is an awakening portrayal of dark winding modern hard rock and metal ethics, pop hooks and classic structures interlacing a horror industrial sci-fi tone and doom contrast. REBIRTH produced by founding member/guitarist Howsie Noise and bassist Billie-Jade reinforces fresh song writing roots and song concepts binding the REBIRTH artwork and music to create another world of music and sci-fi horror visual experience. “While writing material for Rebirth it was critical our sound was recognised as Hatchet Dawn. We wanted to keep growing our sound and grow our style towards a bigger idea” says guitarist Howsie Noise.
HATCHET DAWN continuously draws fans night after night at every show. “When fans come to a Hatchet Dawn show, they get a band that gets up there and gives all they’ve got and feel our passion for playing life,” says Howsie Noise. “We give them real music and real interaction and that’s how we’ve always done it”. Apart from an inventive approach to music and extraordinary visual presentation, HATCHET DAWN thrives on and proud DIY mentality and continues to drive their efforts to showcase their vision with creativity as they design and construct their own elaborate stage sets and wide array of live entertainment. “You can expect nothing but great vibes at every hatchet show” explains Howsie Noise. “We all have a blast on stage and we love to feel close to our fans and connect with anyone enjoying what we do.”
HATCHET DAWN has a preserved loyalty to their fans and the sheer will to survive. “Our history is young and energetic and Hatchet Dawn has overcome many obstacles to stay true to the bands goals and vision since day one. What is most important is that the ideas and creativity of Hatchet Dawn live on forever.” Howsie says. The new album REBIRTH will only reinforce how potent the band has become in such a short time. After touring the south coast of Australia with Marilyn Manson in 2009 and supporting the legendary Misfits in 2011, HATCHET DAWN is preparing to spread the infection around planet in promoting REBIRTH and to take the bands interactive live experience to the world stage leaving no doubt that HATCHET DAWN are here to stay and support the dream of horror so that every day is Halloween.
